The Vineyard
We adhere to the philosophy that good wine is made
in the vineyard as much as in the winery.
We aim to produce high-quality fruit through careful
vineyard management. Minimal chemicals have been used
on our land in recent years and we intend to continue
to use a sensitive spraying programme.
The Negrette grape comprises almost half our crop.
This fine variety is unique to the Frontonnais and Gaillac
regions of France. Growing alongside the Negrette are
Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Merille and Jurançon rouge.
The vines are all cordon-pruned, apart from the Jurançon;
these plants are up to 45 years old and are free-standing
or gobelet. The old vines have deep roots that transmit
a sense of the terroir into the fruit. The vineyard
is also evolving; one hectare of Negrette came into
production in 2006 and we have been awarded planting
rights for a hectare of Cabernet Sauvignon.
